Today’s the day (Obvious Dexter joke here), we have got four detachments and all of them for Daemons.
This ones Slaanesh. Looking for the others? Click here.
Lets get right too it.
The detachment has 2 abilities, the first is Beguiling Aura which is a standard fall back and charge for Slaanesh units. Yipee!
The second is Seductive Gambit which lets you choose to not have Fight First (Reminder you get this from the charge bonus) and instead have full re-rolls to hit and wound. Which is, obviously very good. Or it would be if your units weren’t made of paper. Extreme, glass paper.
Except your Keepers, those are not made of paper and will make for an impromptu game with your opponent of “LETS GO GAMBLING”. If they live, your opponent goes “AW DANG IT,” if you the Keeper doesnt live, you’re the one going “AW DANG IT.”
Silly stuff.
Enhancements
The enhancement selection is pretty straight forward and tells you exactly what they want you to do. Hordes of small guys balled up, big guys getting stuck in on the other side of the board. It’s excessive. Get it?
False Majesty is a 30 point 6″ aura which gives non-monster Slaanesh units +1 to wound in melee. This will make your Daemonettes swing up, especially on an objective where they have full hit re-rolls already. +1 to wound something you don’t say no too, especially a 6″ aura. A+
Dreaming Crown is another 30 point aura which does the exact same thing, but to the hit roll instead. Slightly less whelmed by this one. B
Avatar Of Perfection goes on a Slaanesh monster, and lets them, if there are no other friendly units within 6″, re-roll advance and charge rolls. As well as ignore penalties to its move and charge values. Its not the biggest ask when your Keepers move 14″. It’s probably fine, re-rolling charges for 15 points instead of a CP is pretty decent. B+
Soul Glutton is 10 points and goes on a Slaanesh Monster. It lets you heal D3 wounds at the end of the fight phase if you destroyed any models in melee. Normally, I’d scoff at the healing D3 stuff, but given that these things are surprisingly tanky, and they still heal from the army rule, this might be very good for 10 points. Solid A
Stratagems
The stratagems are all somewhere between very useful and very goofy and fun. Which isn’t a bad thing some are just more obvious in their use than ones like Sensory Excruciation will be.
Thieves of Pain is a super cool stratagem which lets you pass off any damage your (non-monster) unit receives to another Slaanesh unit within 12″ turning each damage into 1 mortal wound. It’s goofy, and hopefully I’m reading it right, but this might be how you have your Daemonettes live long enough for Seductive Gambit. I think I really like it? I’m going to be safe here and just give it an A
Archagonists is a big 2 CP and is very good. You pick either a single monster, or two non-monster Slaanesh units, and give them +1 to wound in melee. It’s a lot of CP, and absolutely rocks. A+
Sensory Excruciation is another neat and fun exercise in fun stratagem design. Every unit (including your own) which is in the Shadow of Chaos, makes a battle-shock at -1. You’re about to heal a lot of units, or throw the game. It relies on you having some crazy board dominance to actually be good, and might be too snow bally to be any good, but it’s super fun and gets bonus points for that. B+
Phantasmal Longing lets a Slaanesh unit move through walls in the charge or movement phase. There is no monster restriction here. Fear Shalaxi. A+
Cavalcade Of Blades is a new “mortals on the charge” stratagem which has you roll a D6 for each model which is in engagement range at the end of the charge, or 6D6 if it’s a monster who charged. Each 4+ is a mortal. Pretty cool, could be really good if you find a way to slam all 10 Daemonettes into engagement range. But I wouldn’t bet on it. Its real use is being a tank shock for your keepers. A
Overwhelming Excess makes your Slaanesh units into the The Changeling. When a Slaanesh unit is selected for a shooting attack the enemy unit makes a battle-shock test at -1. If they pass, they subtract 1 from the hit roll. If they fail, they’re battle-shocked (Shadow of Chaos go brr) and they can’t target your unit. They are obviously allowed to pick a new target if the latter happens. This could be very silly when the Lancer tries to pop a Keeper and gets told “No.” You’ll see it often. A-

Final Thoughts
The detachment is fun. Is it very good? Probably not compared to the Index detachment. But I think its certainly playable.
Being able to YOLO a Keeper through a wall and then give it full re-rolls might be crazy spicy. Could be a neat tempo game you have to set. We love tempo play styles in this home.
That’s all for Slaanesh. Want to see the other Daemons? Click here!
Thanks for reading. Be safe.
