It’s Daemon day! And we got 4 new detachments for everyone’s favorite stat-check army.
This ones Khorne! If you’re looking for the others, click here!
Keeping it simple, like our favorite red boys, we’ll jump right into it.
The detachment gives two abilities. The first is Murdercall is which is a reactive move for all Khorne units when an enemy finishes a normal move or advance within 6″. You move D6″ and can end in engagement range. That move must end in the closer to that enemy unit. There is no cap on this by the way for how many times a unit can do it. Super good, very annoying. Please call out Khorne players who try to do this when you fall back within 6″.
The second ability is Blood Tainted makes an objective sticky after you destroy an enemy unit on that objective in melee (duh) if at the end your level of control is higher. Push forward, and don’t worry about holding objectives. Very thematic.
Enhancements
The enhancements are all really simple, and in the best way where they are all clearly useful and help the army achieve its play style. You will be bringing probably 3/4 of the in every game.
Slaughter Thirst is a 35 point aura which gives non-monster Khorne units lance. I don’t know if there could be a more perfect enhancement for Khorne Daemons. S+
Fury’s Cage is a 20 point bad joke waiting to happen. It goes on a monster and lets you deal D3+1 mortal wounds to itself to receive full hit and wound re-rolls. This rocks and will lead to some hilarious moments as a Bloodthirster goes even more sick-mode than normal. It’s also cheap for what it is. Reminder that Daemons just heal randomly sometimes. A+
Brazenmaw is 15 points and lets you add +2 to charge rolls. Very good, very cheap. Khorne want touch bad man. A+
Gateway Unto Damnation is 10 points and makes your deadly demise go off on a 2+. If you destroyed any units with the bearer, the deadly demise is D3+3 mortals instead. Very funny but relies on you losing to work? Solid B just for being funny.
Stratagems
I’m going to let these speak for themselves. They’re all, very, very good. You could give this army to a child and they’d give you a run for your money.
Wrath Undeniable is the classic 4+ fight on death. If I have to tell you why this is good in a Khorne army, you must be new to the hobby. Welcome! But time to do some research. A+
Gore-Hungry Onslaught lets you move through walls even when you’re not normally able to. This of course includes charges. You don’t know fear until Skarbrand comes barreling through a ruin. S+
Skull’s Beget Blood is advance and charge. I don’t know how to add commentary to something so obviously good, which should say a lot about the design of the detachment. S+
Fool’s Flight is the newest addition to the game of “That’s not how that rule works.” When an enemy unit falls back, your unit can charge that unit. The caveat? They have to be within 6″. So this works on things like: Space Marines, who when they fall back, will be within 6″. This will not work on anything with a movement higher than 6″. This does however let you tag something else within 6″, so there’s a lot of complicated counter player here. It’s 2 CP for a reason and you will likely fear it more than an interrupt. S+
Sheathed in Brass gives a Khorne Daemon unit a 3+ save in shooting. Considering a Bloodletters normal save is a 7+, I’d call this pretty good. A+
Lists
We have 3 list and thought submissions for this one. So thanks to J.R. Brendan Bartok, and Dyllyn Duong for their submissions.

“Very cool detachment rule, we love reactive moving into engagement range!!! Most good players won’t let you do it, but it acts as a 6” screen of sorts I guess. Getting sticky after killing something on an objective is much needed, as you lose the sticky stratagem from the index detachment. Also you really don’t just want to stand around on an objective with a unit like Bloodcrushers.
The tools this detachment gives really makes getting into melee easy. You get a +2 charge enhancement that stacks with the banner that most daemon units have (wow! +3 to charge!!). This combined with new the move/charge through walls stratagem and the returning advance and charge stratagem allows a unit to rocket into your opponent at Mach 5. With all this in mind, staging behind ruins will be extremely important for this army to function (please premeasure!!!!!!!). Khorne units have no real defensive abilities besides reactive moving into combat to avoid being shot, but again, a good opponent will not let this happen.
All in all, if you love Chaos and the fight phase and don’t want to paint Chaos Space Marines trim, this is the detachment for you!”

Final Thoughts
The detachment is super strong and super good. Nothing stops you from bringing Be’lakor either for the “can’t shoot me” aura. Which is obviously going to be very strong in this detachment.
If you own the collection, play it. You likely won’t get bored too fast.
That’s all for Khorne today though. Want to see our review on another of the Daemon detachments? Click here!
Be safe everyone. Drink water. Hug your dog.
