It has been a hot minute since the last preview for the Warhammers, but needless to say this one was not worth the wait or the run time.

I deeply dislike negativity for negativities sake. Contrary to what a lot of people might think after listening to the podcast. If I’m conveying negativity, it’s likely for the comedy of it.

This is one of those sad times where I fear it’s warranted to negativity-post.

Let’s just start, I guess.

The Good

The Chaos Dwarf Bloodbowl team was honestly awesome. They look great and will likely drag me into Bloodbowl finally after resisting with my entire soul.

I mean look at the guy drinking oil like it’s orange juice. I am super convinced especially after the most recent 40k reveals that all the best designers went to the fantasy side of the house. I mean look at these guys, they’re so cool and inspired.

Then we had the Sigmar reveals. These were mostly fine. I’m a big fan of the new space marine chaplain Lord-Relictor. The old model was awful but always super good rules-wise, so I’m glad that I held off long enough for this guy.

The new Lord-Terminos and Reclusian sculpts are sweet. And even though it might be the ugliest terrain in the game, it’s fun that they got the Stormreach Portal.

It was all pretty neat, you don’t need me to tell you that, but the Sigmar stuff wasn’t exactly mind blowing or show stealing.

The Bad

Someone forgot to tell the guys at GW that this was an hour long show. The 40K stuff was pretty much nothing. We knew there was going to be a roadmap but uh, have you seen the thing?

90% of the graphic is just them patting themselves on their backs. Their “so far” section says “Loads of great factions.”

Who wrote this? Who thought this was valuable information? What does any of that have to do with a roadmap.

The only thing that resembles a roadmap that we get here is the next codex’s being Guard, Aeldari and Knights. In 2025 by the way. Which is crazy.

Did nobody tell them that there was four months left in the year?

Also, I’m sorry, I don’t know how to convey this in writing. Look at how the “roadmap” is laid out. You start on the left side and work your way down, following the line. But if you keep following the line, you end up going backwards?

Is the line just decorative or are we suppose to follow it?

Am I misreading it?

How did anyone get paid for this graphic when the one they’ve been using since 9th is way better.

This is crazy.

There’s even less to say about Heresy and Old World, which have the same stupid graphic by the way. I guess I’m excited to see Elves in Old World?

I still can’t believe these roadmaps say “we launched the game.” My brother in christ I’d hope you launched the game?

We learned pretty much nothing of substance.

The Ugly

If nothing else, this preview showed that GW is in deep water, and they forgot the boat.

They are launching this year:

  • A new Kill Team Edition
  • A new Lord of the Rings Edition
  • And rolling out the first bit of 4th Edition Sigmar

You want to know why there’s no releases for half of their games until next year?

They spread themselves way too thin. This was obvious from the Dwarf Mountain Holds release which took I think nearly four months from announcement give or take to be released.

They can’t keep up with the amount of product they have chosen to start releasing, and to be fair neither can their consumer base.

I don’t mean to be that guy, but Kill team is thriving right now as far as I’ve been able to tell and could have been delayed slightly without much complaint.

I don’t know what happened to cause such a massive meltdown of a release schedule internally but at the very least it’s obvious that they’re doing it to themselves because 2024 is the year of everything getting a new edition I guess?

Fuck it, just release 11th edition this year. You might as well with how things are going. I’m thinking we release Emperors Children with only four units.

Hell yeah.

Have you seen the Hours Heresy roadmap? Man if you should feel bad for anyone it’s these guys. Their roadmap just says “Tanks!”

I bully the Heresy guys as much as the next person but I can’t imagine tuning into a stream hoping for anything cool to get a guy talking on a couch for ten minutes just to say “Yeah you’ll get tanks or something. In 2025. Probably.”

You can’t make this kind of comedy up, genuinely mind boggling.

There isn’t really much more to say, this sucked.

I think the worst part was being told that there’s new Krieg sculpts on the way and Aspect warriors, but then not shown even one model. They did this too when they announced 4th edition sigmar.

“The launch box is called Skaventide”

“When during the stream can we see a new model?”

“That’s the best part, you don’t.”

What a bunch of silly British jokesters. They sure know how to put on a good show. My favorite part of going to a concert is when they say “We have a new song, do you want to hear it? You do? Nah, we’ll do it next time.”

Get new social media people or whoever is in-charge of these productions. This is bad and has continued to be bad.

I’m sad. Think I’ll play RuneScape today instead of thinking about this any more.

Thanks for reading. Drink water. Message that friend you haven’t talked too in a while, they miss you.
